About OCCIC

Our Community was established in 2006 to develop implement and promote community programmes directed towards the improvement and enrichment of personal and social skills.

We registered as a Community Interest Company in May 2008 (Registration number 06599550).

To provide safe and enriching cultural activities for people of all ages as a means of enabling people to improve and enhance their lives.

• To provide activities that promote friendship, reduce isolation and promote self-esteem.
• To provide activities that enable personal development and growth of character.
• To raise awareness of and enable active participation in local affairs and develop good citizenship.
• To help people take the first steps back into learning by providing learning opportunities.
• To encourage people to take up employment, further education or voluntary positions within the community.
• To develop multi-aged and family activities to enable people of different generations to relate to each other with respect.
• To develop activity that will enhance the lives of people who are disadvantaged in any way.
• To promote the availability of information, advice and guidance on matters such as finance (credit union), housing, benefits and offer a signposting service.
• To run courses and activities customised to suit their requirements.
• To inform communities about the importance of healthy life styles.

Our four key divisions of work are evolving youth work, sports for all, employment and opportunities for women.
