Today, our CEO Basharat Dad had the incredible opportunity to experience The Next Chapter – The Great Regions Fairy Tale exhibition at Birmingham New Street. Hosted by the United by 2022 Charity, the interactive display celebrates the lasting legacy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games — not just in sport, but in spirit, community, and purpose.
Led by Nicola Turner MBE, CEO of United by 2022, Basharat was given a personal tour of the exhibition, which highlights the stories, achievements, and impact that have followed in the wake of the Games. From the Echo Wood Radio Tree, capturing youth voices from across the region, to the Throne of Legacy, where local changemakers are honoured — every part of the experience reflects the power of people coming together.
A particularly proud moment came when Basharat saw his own quote featured as part of the display, standing as a testament to Our Community Foundation’s deep-rooted commitment to youth empowerment, community leadership, and grassroots action.
As the flagship organisation for Bring the Power in Birmingham, Our Community Foundation facilitated a record-breaking youth-led celebration of everything the Games stood for. It’s a fitting reminder that while the sporting moments may have passed, the real victory is the legacy we continue to build every day — through young people, community collaboration, and shared purpose.
