In 2024, Our Community Foundation hosted the Bring The Power Youth Event, bringing together 250 young people for an action-packed day of empowerment and inspiration. Commissioned by United by 2022, the event was a platform for youth to showcase their talents, engage in sports, and participate in dynamic workshops.
A Day of Action and Empowerment
The event featured a variety of activities, including boxing with European Champion Gamal Yafai, wheelchair basketball, football, cricket, archery, and a breakdancing performance and workshop. Each activity was designed to inspire confidence and leadership, giving young people the chance to lead, try new things, develop valuable skills and make real change.
Youth-Led and Supported by Leaders
What made the event even more special was that 25 young people from inner-city Birmingham, designed, co-created and led, ensuring the event was a true reflection of their voices and leadership. West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker also attended, showing his support for the next generation of #GAMECHANGERS.
A Moment of Unity and Impact
The Bring The Power event proved that when young people are given the opportunity and the support, they can make an incredible impact on their communities. It was a day of unity, empowerment, and celebration of youth-led action, demonstrating that our future leaders are already here and ready to lead.
