At just 11 years old, one of our youngest youth leads helped shape a legacy event — Bring The Power — celebrating the legacy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. More than just a participant, he was a driving force behind the scenes, helping organise key elements, build excitement, and lead from the front.
His standout moment? Playing a key role in bringing local hero and European Champion Gamal Yafai to the event — a huge win for the young people who look up to him. He also had the confidence and presence to meet and engage with Richard Parker, the newly elected West Midlands Mayor, representing not just himself, but his entire generation.
From planning and preparation to stage management and coordination on the day, he picked up real-world skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. Skills that many don’t develop until much later in life — yet he’s already applying them with maturity and pride.
This wasn’t just a big event. It was the best Bring The Power youth activation to date — and he helped make it happen.
